LORD God of the living!

Daily Ponder, Practice and Pass On God’s Word

Today’s Memory Verse:

‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, & the God of Jacob?’ God is not God of the dead, but of the living."

Matthew 22:32

Today’s Bible Study:

LORD God of the living!

How did Jesus solve the issue of the Sadducees?

Though Sadducees professed to be pious & knowledgeable, Jesus proved to them that they neither knew the scriptures nor the power of God.

Sadducees didn’t believe in the resurrection because

A. They were ignorant of the scripture that the resurrected people are:

1. Neither married nor given in marriage

2. Not in physical mortal bodies but are in immortal bodies, like angels in heaven

B. They were ignorant of the power of God:

That God would raise the dead who lived righteous before Him

C. They were ignorant that the LORD is God of the living:

He is God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob who lived on earth as God’s men & who are alive in the presence of God (Jesus witnessed that they were alive). Thus God is proud to be addressed as their God

To do*:

When would God address Himself as our God?

Let’s

1. Shun hypocrisy & ignorance of God’s scriptures & His power

2. Understand the scriptures that death is not our end, for those of us in Christ Jesus would be clothed with immortality

3. Live Christ-like in this world, believing that God is powerful to raise the dead in Christ

Thus God would be proud to address Himself as our God

Read Matthew 22:23-33; I Samuel 2:6; Psalm 16:10; I Corinthians 15:51-57; II Timothy 3:5

Woe to the rich!

Daily Ponder, Practice and Pass On God’s Word

Today’s Memory Verse:

Come now, you rich, weep and howl, for your miseries that are coming upon you!

James 5:1

Today’s Bible Study:

Woe to the rich!

Is it sinful to be rich? Then, why are the rich called to weep & howl?

No, to be rich is not sinful, indeed to be rich by righteous wealth is a blessing of God.

But the rich were called to weep and howl because of the corrupt wealth that they have acquired by:

1. The wages of the laborers (sweat money) which they held back by fraud

2. The due (tear money) of reapers, because of which their cries have reached the Lord of hosts

Thus their wealth which they have sinfully heaped up for their last days is corrupted, moth eaten & corroded. In the end this is going to stand as a witness against them, bringing them to Hell

To do*:

How should we handle our riches or how can we be truly rich?

Let’s

1. Humble ourselves, & repent of our unfaithful handling of wealth, & return those to whom it is due

2. Acquire wealth only by righteous means

3. Shun greed & the lust of money, rather be content with what we have

4. Enjoy the God given riches righteously

5. Do good, be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, thus store up for ourselves incorruptible true riches in heaven

Read James 5:1-6; Proverbs 19:17; Matthew 6:19-21; Luke 6:24ff; John 6:27; I Timothy 6:6-10; 17-19

Elijah is here!

Daily Ponder, Practice and Pass On God’s Word

Today’s Memory Verse:

And he answered him, "It is I. "Go tell your master, ‘Elijah is here.’ "

I Kings 18:8

Today’s Bible Study:

Elijah is here!

A. Who & what troubled Israel?

Ahab & his father’s house caused the trouble for Israel by causing severe drought for three years, because they have

1. Forsaken the commandments of the LORD &

2. Followed the Baals

B. How did Elijah resolve the trouble of Israel?

Elijah

1. Heard and obeyed the voice of God

2. Prayed and stopped the rains

3. Challenged and proved to Ahab, Israelites & the Baal worshipers that the LORD is God

4. Executed the prophets of Baal

5. Prayed and brought back the rains in Israel

To do*:

How can we bring God’s healing in our world today?

Let’s

1. Humble ourselves & come in repentance before God

2. Pray & seek God’s face in Jesus name

3. Speak Christ’s word boldly among those to whom He sends us that they would stop & return from their wicked ways,

Then we can be the Elijah’s of this generation, bringing the healing of God in our world today

Read I Kings 8; I Chronicles 7:14; James 4:4-10
