Ministers of the new covenant!

Daily Ponder, Practice and Pass On God’s Word

Today’s Memory Verse:

Who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

II Corinthians 3:6

Today’s Bible Study:

Ministers of the new covenant!

What is old & new covenant, how does it differ from the other?

Covenant is a surety between God and His people, that if His people followed certain stipulations then they would be accepted as God’s children

The old covenant was of letters of the law, brought death, had a limited glory (passing away), was a ministry of condemnation, veiled the reader

But the new covenant is of the Spirit, brings life (eternal life), has eternal glory, is a ministry of righteousness, has glory that excels, the veil is removed, gives us liberty, to see the glorious image of the Lord to be transformed like Him

(for more detailed notes see: http://tmvtbs.webs.com/apps/blog/show/31992249-the-spirit-of-liberty-)

To do*:

Let’s

1. Trust in God through Christ who makes us all sufficient for the most glorious hope

2. Be ministers of the most glorious new covenant of the Spirit

3. Turn to the Lord and be set free by the Spirit of the Lord, to be transformed into the glorious image of our Lord Jesus Christ

Reconciler of all!

Daily Ponder, Practice and Pass On God’s Word

Today’s Memory Verse:

And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled

Colossians 1:21

Today’s Bible Study:

Reconciler of all!

A. What is reconciliation?

Reconciliation is to make peace

B. What was the Father’s pleasure in Jesus Christ? vv. 17-20

The Father’s pleasure in Jesus Christ was that

1. In all things He may have the preeminence

2. In Him all the fullness should dwell

3. By Him all things (both on earth and in heaven) would be reconciled to Himself

C. How did Jesus fulfil His Father’s pleasure? vv.18, 19c, 22a

Jesus brought about the reconciliation through shedding His blood and dying in His flesh on the cross, & being raised from the dead, becoming the firstborn from the dead. Thus He reconciled all things and became the head of the church fulfilling His Father’s pleasure

To do*:

How can we be reconciled to Father God?

Let’s

1. Come to Christ, repent & shun all wicked works from our lives **

2. Remain presentable before the Father as holy, blameless, and above reproach through Christ’s blood^

3. Continue in our faith in Jesus Christ, grounded and steadfast in the hope of the Gospel we have heard v.27

Thus we can be reconciled to God through Jesus Christ

Read Colossians 1:19-29; ** 3:5-11; John 14:6; ^Ephesians 5:26-27; I Timothy 2:3-7; I John 1:7, 9
