What did Jesus teach of discipleship?

If anyone wanted to follow Christ, He reminded them that

1. He himself had no place of rest in this world &

2. His disciple’s first priority should be to follow Him & the rest would be taken care

How can we find real rest?

Let’s

1. Come to Christ, cast our cares up on Him & follow Him

2. Hear His words & receive His promises

3. Believe & have hope for eternal rest & peace

Paul warned the Roman church about those who

1. Cause divisions

2. Offenses

3. Walk contrary to the sound doctrines of the church

4. Serve their belly & not Lord Jesus Christ

5. Deceive innocent people with smooth & flattery words

4. Be excellent at what is good

All ready!

So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless.

Matthew 22:12

Today’s Bible Study:

All ready!

A. What arrangements did the king do for his son’s marriage?

The king

1. Made the dinner ready

2. Slaughtered the cattle

3. Twice send his servants to the guests to remind them of the invitation

B. But how did the guests respond & what did the king do to them?
1. The guests took the invitation lightly
2. They went their ways
3. The rest treated the servants spitefully & killed them
So the king sent his army & destroyed those murderers & burnt up their city

To do*:

How should we respond to God’s call to be chosen? v.14

Let’s

1. Seek first the kingdom of God & His righteousness

2. Be clothed in white by overcoming the world, through Christ’s blood

3. Be prepared by hearing the word & knowing the time, that all is made ready for the Lamb’s wedding

Today’s Bible Study:
Rebuked for iniquity!
What did Apostle Peter warn the early church & why?
Apostle Peter warned the early church of false prophets and false teachers, because
1. They would bring in destructive heresies, denying Lord Jesus who bought them v.1
2. They would allure many into destructive ways by their covetousness and deceptive words vv.2-3
3. They are carnal, self-willed, & speak evil of dignitaries v.10 4. They have a heart trained in covetous practices v.14
5. They love the wages of unrighteousness v.15
To do*:
How can we be saved from the corrupted atmosphere of this age? Let’s
1. Be cautious of backsliders & carnal people, false prophets, & false teachers 2. Be righteous & godly through the blood of Jesus, keeping ourselves separated from the company of the corrupt, overcoming the slavery of sinful corruption, that God will deliver us from the temptations 4. Be a dumb donkey under Christ to warn & restrain others from sin’s madness Read II Peter 2; Mark 13:22-23; II Timothy 3:1-9; 4:1-5

Know God!

Today’s Bible Study:
Know God!
A. What made Jonah to be angry?
Jonah was angry because
1. God did not do the harm to Nineveh as he preached
2. God caused his sheltering tree to wither overnight
3. God caused the east wind & the sun to hit him
B. Was it right for Jonah to be angry, why not?
It was not right for Jonah to be angry because
1. In the sight of God the lives of Ninevites were of more value than all else that Jonah valued
2. Jonah knew that God was gracious, merciful, slow to anger, abundant in lovingkindness, & relenting to do harm, so he should have had similar attitude to those around
3. God owned all, even Jonah too
To do*:
Let’s
1. Know God’s gracefulness, mercifulness, slowness to anger, His abounding in lovingkindness & His hesitation to harm anyone
2. Be godly to those around

Bread & wine!

Today’s Bible Study:
Bread & wine!
A. What was bread & wine symbolic of then & now?
Then bread & wine were symbolic of God’s provision of food & drink for human sustenance
Now bread & wine are symbolic of the body & blood of Jesus, given for human spiritual sustenance
B. When did Melchizedek meet Abram with bread & wine?
When Abram
1. Heard about his nephew Lot’s captivity , he & his servants armed to pursue the enemy
2. Attacked & defeated the enemy
3. Brought back his nephew Lot & his people with their belongings To do*:
A. How did Melchizedek meet Abram? vv.18-20
Melchizedek
1. Brought out bread & wine
2. Blessed Abram in the name of God Most High, Posessor of heaven & earth 3. Blesed God Most High who has delivered Abram’s enemies into his hands B. How can we have Christ to greet us with bread & wine?
Let’s
1. Abide in Jesus- constantly fellowshiping with Him (Jn. 6:56) 2. Bear much fruit of bringing joy to God, by overcoming the enemy (Jn 15:5) 3. Return with great exploits of lives saved
Jesus would be awaiting us the other shore with bread & wine in His banqueting table (Lk. 22:15-16; Rev. 19:9)
